The U.S. Dollar Index fell by 0.32 percent to 96.20 as of 18:30 GMT. The index is a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies. U.S. stocks traded lower around midday Wednesday， giving additional support to gold as traders shifted from equity market to gold.

HELSINKI， Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Helsinki police confirmed on Sunday that a passer-by died of injuries suffered a week ago outside the Helsinki central railroad station， where the Finnish Resistance Movement was holding a demonstration.


The outsider was said to have made negative remarks to the right wing demonstrators. He was assaulted at the scene and died at the Helsinki Meilahti hospital on Friday.
