GREEN BAY Justin McCray Color Rush Jersey , Wis. (AP) — Mason Crosby smiled as he left the field. It was quite the week for the Green Bay Packers‘ veteran kicker.Crosby hit four field goals, including the winner from 27 yards as time expired to lift the Packers past the San Francisco 49ers 33-30 on Monday night.“This week was a grind, it was one of the tougher weeks of my career,” Crosby said.It began with rare questions about Crosby’s reliability following four missed field goals and an extra-point try in a 31-23 loss in Detroit last week.It ended with a perfect night against the 49ers. He also hit from 29, 39 and 51 yards, and made all three extra-point attempts.“It’s very appropriate, what he went through last week, (for) the team to stick with him,” Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “And then he responded.”The drive that led to Crosby’s winner was extended after cornerback Richard Sherman was flagged for illegal contact on third-and-15 that wiped out a sack with 43 seconds left.Rodgers rushed up the middle for a 21-yard gain on the next play. The two-time NFL MVP completed two more passes for 19 yards to set up Crosby’s winner for Green Bay (3-2-1).“It doesn’t matter if you agree with the call. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I didn’t agree with the call, they’re going to pick it up.’ They called it. I’ve got to find a way to do better,” Sherman said.Other takeaways and key moments from the game:CLUTCH RODGERSRodgers threw for 425 yards and two scores, both to Davante Adams. The second came with 1:55 left from 16 yards to tie it at 30.The Packers didn’t waste a second chance to get into field-goal range after the penalty on Sherman. After a spike to stop the clock with 19 seconds left following his 21-yard scramble to the Packers 45, Rodgers hit three straight passes to move Green Bay to the San Francisco 9. The receivers got out of bounds after each of play to buy more time.“Just the time, and just really the menu (of plays) and the operation, that was a clinic,” coach Mike McCarthy said.LATE PICKC.J. Beathard passed for 245 yards and two long touchdowns to speedy receiver Marquise Goodwin for the 49ers (1-5).For a while it looked like they might hold on for their first victory since quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was lost for the year in Week 3 with a torn ACL.Turnovers hurt them again — three more on Monday night, but none bigger than cornerback Kevin King’s interception of a deep pass down the middle at the Packers 10.“Very disappointed. We had a chance to win that game,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “It hurts.”A second-year cornerback, King was locked in 1-on-1 coverage with Goodwin, who had burned the secondary all night. This time, King kept up and pulled in a ball that looked slightly underthrown by Beathard.King picked a nice time for his first career interception.“I’ve just got to stay the course, keep doing your job https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Marwin-Evans-Jersey , keep it going, and those types of plays are going to come,” King said.GOOD GOODWINThe Packers had 17-7 lead when Rodgers connected with Adams for a 9-yard touchdown with 1:58 left in the first quarter. Then San Francisco just brushed past Green Bay.Beathard connected with Goodwin for the 67-yard score down the middle of the field on the ensuing series.Goodwin had a 30-yard score with 6:05 left in the second. Goodwin, who finished with four catches for 126 yards, celebrated by mimicking a long jump in the end zone.Beathard was 16 of 23.NO TAKEAWAYSAnother game without a takeaway for the Niners dropped them to an NFL-worst minus-11 in turnover differential. The defense had generated a league-low three takeaways coming into the night, the fewest for the franchise after five games since 1977.RECEIVERS RUN AWAYThe Packers got the 49ers to bite on play-action early that resulted in open passes to Jimmy Graham and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.Rodgers found Valdes-Scantling for a 60-yard completion on the Packers’ first play from scrimmage, setting up Ty Montgomery’s 2-yard touchdown run with 9:20 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 7.Graham and Valdes-Scantling each finished with more than 100 yards receiving. Adams had 10 catches on 16 targets with a game-high 132 yards and two scores. It was a promising night for a passing game with receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison both sidelined again with hamstring injuries. The Green Bay Packers sure didn’t look like a team for whom pride still mattered on Sunday. Facing the 5-10 Detroit Lions, the Packers were listless on offense, uninterested on defense, and simply bad on special teams once again. Green Bay allowed the Lions to run over, around, and through them throughout the game and saw a few key players leave the game to injury as they fell to the Lions 31-0 at Lambeau Field. The biggest injury was to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He suffered a concussion on the second offensive snap of the game, but was not removed from the contest until after two more drives ended in three-and-outs. At that time, he finally went to the locker room for an evaluation, and the team officially announced the concussion diagnosis in the fourth quarter. Left tackle David Bakhtiari also left the game, sitting out the second half after playing every snap until the break. The events of the game itself were entirely forgettable. The Packers’ defense missed tackle after tackle, letting the Lions rack up 130 yards on the ground and big yards after the catch. After leading 21-0 at the half, Detroit outscored the DeShone Kizer-led Packers 10-0 after the break. The shutout was the third at home for the Packers in the past two years; they were also shut out by the Vikings 16-0 in week 16 a year ago and 22-0 by the Baltimore Ravens in week 11 of last season. The Packers’ offense was abysmal in the first quarter of the game, failing to pick up a single first down in the first 15 minutes of play. Aaron Rodgers took a big hit on the second play of the game, resulting in his helmet being knocked off. Taking advantage of good field position after a poor JK Scott punt, the Lions struck first. Starting at their own 44-yard line, Detroit dinked and dunked their way down the field on a 12-play drive, culminating in a five-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to T.J. Jones. After another three-and-out by Green Bay — their third of the first quarter — the Lions drove down for the second score of the game. A pick route got Brandon Powell open in the middle of the field for Detroit, and he picked up a huge 41-yard gain. After a red-zone stop by the Packers’ defense Jermaine Whitehead Jersey , the Lions dipped into their trick play bag, as kicker Matt Prater took a direct snap and floated a pass to tight end Levine Toilolo in the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown and a 14-0 Detroit lead.It was following that score that Aaron Rodgers left the game to be evaluated for a concussion. It appeared that the hit on the first drive was the culprit, and that the training staff did not identify a potential problem until after two more series. DeShone Kizer came in the game at that point and drove the Packers to midfield before throwing a terrible, interceptable pass that Jarrad Davis dropped, forcing the Packers to punt instead.Detroit added another touchdown before the end of the first half, a 13-yard Zach Zenner run that gave them a 21-0 lead. The Packers finished the first half with just 67 total yards of offense and three first downs on 24 plays.Out of the half, the team pulled left tackle David Bakhtiari with a hip injury, inserting Justin McCray at left tackle and plugging Lane Taylor back in at left guard, after he had sat out the first half. The third quarter saw much of the same from the Packers’ offense, which picked up a total of 8 plays on six plays on their first series before punting. There was one cool moment early in the second half, however. Kyler Fackrell sacked Matthew Stafford, giving the third-year linebacker double-digit sacks on the season with 10.5. That also made week 17 his third straight game with at least a half-sack. The Lions added a field goal in the third quarter as the Packers continued to struggle offensively. However, they did finally get on the board late in the quarter after a few nice throws from Kizer. He hit Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a third-down conversion, then lofted a deep ball to Randall Cobb for a big 27-yard gain to get into field goal range. However, Joe Philbin kept the offense on the field on fourth and five, and Kizer’s pass to Robert Tonyan was knocked out of the tight end’s hands by safety Tavon Wilson to preserve the shutout. The Packers again got into field goal range in the fourth quarter, thanks largely to Kizer’s legs, but failed on fourth down. Once again, Philbin kept the offense on the field — this time at the 30-yard line — rather than trying a field goal to simply get on the board. However, it didn’t work, as Kizer’s pass to Valdes-Scantling fell incomplete and the Lions took over with about 9:30 remaining.Detroit added a quick touchdown on the next series, as Stafford hooked up with T.J. Jones for a 23-yard score to provide the final score. A late Kizer interception put the bow on the abysmal season for the team.
