ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Aledmys Diaz Astros Jersey . - Peyton Manning was disgusted with the Denver Broncos offence after the first of three practices with the Houston Texans. "I thought our offence stunk today," Manning said after Tuesdays two-hour practice in shells and shorts. "I thought their defence totally kicked our butt." And when the five-time MVP isnt happy, nobodys happy. "I dont feel like we had our best day as a group, especially on the offensive side of the ball," Demaryius Thomas said. "There were a lot of penalties, not converting well, I dont think I had one of my best days." Asked specifically what had set him off, Manning stared at a reporter like he had stared down receiver Bubba Caldwell after a poorly run route or two an hour earlier. "Were you watching?" Manning retorted. What observers saw, actually, was a Broncos offence that produced its share of big plays in both 7-on-7 and team drills against a Romeo Crennel-designed 3-4 defence led by J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney but also some sloppy moments less than 48 hours after a chest-thumping 34-0 shutout of the San Francisco 49ers. The Texans had an extra days rest, having played Atlanta on Saturday night. "They executed better than we did," Manning said. "They just did their jobs a lot better." Denvers starters have looked solid in preseason wins over Seattle and San Francisco, games in which Manning has completed 22 of 27 passes for 182 yards and a TD, leading some to suggest the Broncos are ready for the regular season right now. "I think that story ought to die pretty quickly after todays performance out there," Manning said. He said there was no ulterior motive to his harsh assessment, denying that he was just trying to light a fire under his team so it didnt start to feel like the next two weeks didnt matter. "I kind of call it like I see it. When you have a pretty below-average practice, youve got to call it a below-average practice," Manning said. "So, I think this team does a pretty good job staying pretty even-keeled. I dont think anybody is overly excited about beating a San Francisco team that didnt have Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, that didnt blitz us one time, playing kind of a pretty vanilla scheme. They will be a different animal when we play those guys in the regular season, trust me." The Broncos will also see the Seahawks again in September, but after Saturday nights game against Houston, they wont see the Texans again this season unless they meet up in the playoffs. Manning said hes thrilled to get three workouts in against the Texans and Crennel, who is in his first season as Texans defensive co-ordinator, having joined the staff after another former Bill Belichick disciple, Bill OBrien, was named head coach. "Romeo Crennel is one of the best coaches out there," Manning said. "Overall, it will be a good week for us. But weve got to do better than we did today on offence." While the Texans, who went 2-14 last year, talked all about how beneficial it was facing the defending AFC champs, it was the Broncos who were talking up the Texans. Thomas said the Texans had plenty to do with Denvers discombobulated performance that so upset Manning. "They came in and did what they were supposed to do. They put pressure on us. They stopped us on a couple of third downs, fourth downs and two-minutes," Thomas said. "They get a lot of credit." To be sure, Denvers defence also got the best of Houstons offence. "I feel like we had a pretty good practice," Von Miller said. "Today had a game-type atmosphere. We still made some errors. Thats what practice is for, you just go out there and try to smooth everything out." The teams will suit up in full pads Wednesday. That, combined with Manning calling out his teammates, promises to ratchet up the intensity. Notes: Watt said hed like a new contract soon, but hes not stressing over it: "I get paid to go after quarterbacks. There are people who get paid to decide how much I get paid to go after quarterbacks," he said. ... Texans RG Brandon Brooks participated in his first practice after missing camp with an undisclosed injury and CB Johnathan Joseph is back after missing all of camp following off-season toe surgery. ... WR Andre Johnson, RB Arian Foster and LB Brian Cushing, who didnt play against the Falcons, ramped up their workload Tuesday. ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ___ Follow AP Pro Football Writer Arnie Melendrez Stapleton on Twitter: http://twitter.com/arniestapletonBrad Lidge Astros Jersey . The Whitecaps confirmed in a news release Thursday that they have traded Reo-Coker, a 30-year-old former English Premier League star who was in his second season with the team, to Chivas U.S.A. for fellow midfielder Mauro Rosales. The announcement came after Robinson said following a practice that the Whitecaps might move Reo-Coker. "We are excited to welcome (Rosales) to our club and Vancouver," said Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson in the news release. "If you look at Mauros history, hes constantly creating goals. Hes experienced, bright, and has a super football brain. His delivery on crosses is fantastic, and I know hes a good guy. Thats important in this locker-room. "Were very pleased to add a player of Mauros calibre as we make our push for the playoffs." Rosales will train with the Caps on Friday in Carson, Calif., in preparation for a game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, when he will be eligible for selection. He did not have to travel to join his new team, because Chivas also plays out of Carson, a Los Angeles suburb. This marks the second consecutive weekend that the Whitecaps play in Carson after they visited Chivas in their previous game. Rosales, a 33-year-old Villa Maria, Argentina native, has recorded the second-most assists (42) in MLS since 2011. He has started 16 of his 21 appearances for Chivas this season, posting eight assists -- good for third place in the league this season. From 2011 to 2013, he played three seasons with the Seattle Sounders, scoring 12 goals and recording 34 assists in 86 regular-season matches. He was named MLS Newcomer of the Year in 2011. Prior to moving to North America, Rosales played for Argentina powerhouses Club Atletico River Plate (2007-10) and Newells Old Boys (1999-2004), as well as top-flight Dutch side AFC Ajax (2004-07). Internationally, Rosales was a part of Argentinas U-20 national team that won the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship and the U-23 side that won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Reo-Coker has played sparingly this season, his second in MLS, following a freak off-field injury and inconsistency that saw him lose his spot in the starting 11. After beginning the season as a starter, he was sidelined with a concussion suffered when he reportedly walked into a bicycle rack. Primarily a midfielder, he has most recently been spotted in midfield and at right back, filling in for defender Steven Beitashour whhile he was away representing Iran at the World Cup. Joe Biagini Jersey. But Reo-Coker has played only one official minute in the last five games. In addition to offensively-gifted designated player Pedro Morales, Robinson has preferred to deploy Matias Laba, the teams other designated player, and Gershon Koffie most of the time in midfield, along with Sebastian Fernandez, Russell Teibert and recently, Mehdi Ballouchy. Reo-Coker, a London native who had spent his entire career previously in England, joined the Whitecaps amidst considerable fanfare in February 2013 after Vancouver sent a pair of draft picks to the Portland Timbers in exchange for the right of first refusal to sign him. Reo-Coker has played 12 games this season, starting eight, and recorded a goal and two assists. His minutes were way down this season from 2013, when he played in 32 of the clubs 34 regular-season games, starting 31. He has appeared in more than 200 EPL matches and last played for English Championship side Ipswich Town on a three-month stint. During four seasons at Aston Villa from 2007 to 2011, he made 102 appearances and scored two goals. He also helped West Ham United reach the 2006 FA Cup final against Liverpool only to lose on penalty kicks. After starting as a 12-year-old in Wimbledons system, he toiled for Englands under-21 national team, serving as captain during the 2007 UEFA U-21 Championship. He has also played for Englands under-20 squad and served as a standby player for its 2006 World Cup side. He has captained EPL squads West Ham United FC, Aston Villa, and Bolton Wanderers and also worn the arm band for Wimbledon. According to the MLS Players Union, Reo-Coker is earning $446,500 this season. His departure from Vancouver has been expected for weeks as his role diminished. The Whitecaps have struggled to score goals while utilizing young players in offensive roles since former Scottish international Kenny Miller left the club by mutual consent in the spring. Observers have opined that Reo-Cokers departure could free up salary room for an experienced scorer. The acquisition of Rosales, who is earning $450,000 this season, came after the Whitecaps elected not to sign a proven veteran scorer during the international transfer window that closed earlier this month. "Ive known (Reo-Coker) for a number of years and consider him a friend," said Robinson in the news release. "We are thankful to (him) for everything hes done for the club. Hes been a pleasure to work with and I have a lot of respect for him." ' ' '
